Global Pacific was engaged by RLMC in August 2005 as Contracts Manager for the
construction of the Barrier Wall Project at the former BHP site at Mayfield. The project
required project and contract management of a highly skilled, multidisciplinary project team
and the management of OHS&R and environmental issues.
It included the design and construction of an underground barrier wall to manage
groundwater flows and the remediation earthworks / drains / capping environmental
works, the contract for the demolition, crushing and removal of existing foundations at
the site and provision of earthworks and pavement capping.
Services provided included assistance in the selection of design consultants,
preparation of a number of tender contract packages, tender / negotiation and award,
contract management and the ongoing administration of the defect liability period.
RLMC entered the project as part of Engineers Australia Newcastle – Engineering
Excellence Awards 2007 and was awarded the winners prize. The project was then
nominated for theAustralian Engineering Excellence Awards 2007 and voted "Winner,
Environmental Engineering Excellence Award". Global Pacific's integral role in this project
provided a significant contribution to RLMC's success in being awarded the Excellence
Award.
